Picasso Museum
This Museum opened in 1963 on the premises of five adjoining Medieval palaces, and expanded in 2000. Its first works were donated by the painter’s friend, Jaume Sabartés, and today the collection includes paintings, drawings, engravings, and ceramics.
The most significant pieces are those from the artist’s early career; notable works include La primera comunión (1896) and Ciencia y caridad (1897). The best-loved gallery displays paintings from 1957, among them the painter’s interpretation of Las Meninas, the masterpiece by Velázquez.
